Number of properties sold on the rise despite interest rates
According to data compiled by the Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers (QPAREB), 6 474transactions were recorded in the province of Quebec in July 2023, an increase of 2 per cent. Active listings are up 17 per cent and new listings decreased by 8 per cent compared to July 2022.
Regarding the median price, the largest change was for plexes, which increased by 5 per cent. The median price for single-family homes increased by 1 per cent and for condominiums decreased by 1 per cent.
Here are the July 2023 median prices for a single-family home in the 7 CMAs along with the variation from July of last year.
- Montréal : $555,000 (+1 per cent)
- Gatineau : $437,000 (+3 per cent)
- Sherbrooke : $380,000 (+15 per cent)
- Québec : $350,000 (0 per cent)
- Drummondville : $347,450 (+18 per cent)
- Trois-Rivières : $290,000 (-5 per cent)
- Saguenay : $256,000 (-3 per cent)
